Women in the Wind
I wasn't young when I started riding. I don't know why I waited so long to ride. What a feeling! Riding is my meditation. I am able to clear my mind and be truly in the moment. It puts a smile on my face. It’s my Zen.
I never rode behind my husband on his bike like so many. And even though we had several friends that rode, he never wanted to ride and always said he would admire Harleys from a distance. Then my husband inherited one, the only stipulation was that he had to ride it or it went to his late friend’s nephew. So he signed up for an Abate class in the early spring of 04. Friends that rode suggested I take the class to become a better passenger, so I tagged along.
I was hooked! My first bike was a 2004 Honda Rebel. I traded up to a 2001 Harley Sportster 883 Hugger later that summer. Soon I longed for more, a year and half later I got my '05 HD Softail Deluxe. After putting 85,000 miles on my Deluxe it was time to let go of my chromed out baby. I now have "Big Blue" my first touring bike, a 2014 Streetglide.
I took an ABATE riding course and I am still a member of ABATE.
